All backpackers want to know on the trip to Halong

Halong Bay, the UNESCO World Heritage Site, is familiar to every people both native and international. Backpacking visitors usually concern about what to eat, where to stay, where to play and how to join activities in order to save money and other expenditures. With experiences accumulated after the trips here, we kindly share you valuable tips and useful advices with view to contributing on your unforgetable holiday.

1. Moving to Halong Bay

Located in the East of Hanoi, 177km from the capital of Vietnam, backpackers can go on coach or motorbike to reach Halong. Motorbike is the best choice due to cheap and safety.

If coach is your selection, you can catch at Luong Yen station and My Dinh Station that provides a lot of transport services from different transportation companies. It takes about 4 hours to get Halong, if you start at 7 a.m in the morning, you will see Halong at 11:30 to 12:00 a.m. Then go to restaurants near the port to have lunch with reasonable price.

2. Accommodations and expenditures.

From the station in Halong, you can catch motorbike taxi (xe ôm) to visit Bai Chay with the price is about 15.000 to 20.000 Vietnamese dong. It's is about 40.000 Vietnamese dong on visiting Hon Gai. Other choice for you is go on bus (10.000 Vietnamese dong per person).

3. Where to go? How about price ticket?

After check-in, you can go out and explore the Bay. Buy ticket in the desk near Halong port and hire a cruise (100.000 to 150.000 dong per person). Please notice that there are two kind of ticket: visiting the bay in 4 hours and in 6 hours. 4-hour ticket includes sites such as Thien Cung Cave, Dau Go Cave, Ga Choi islet, and other sites in near distance. 6-hour ticket provides the chance to visit Thien Cung Cave, Ga Choi islet, Titop beach and other sites in farther distance.

Besides exploring Halong Bay, you can also visit other well-known site like Quan Lan island and Co To island.

The life at night is quite lively with a lot of night markets which show a lot of cute souvenirs, clothes and other interesting accessories. Contemplating Halong City at night on Bai Chay Brigde is also the favourite activities of visitors.

4. Place to eat with reasonable price

Coming to Halong, don't forget to enjoy specialities here, one of them is steamed rolled rice pancake with dipped squid (bánh cuốn chả mực). And, a lot of dishes made from sea crab, shrimp, oyster, etc.
